Bikes are popular on GC but not essential to get around as island is small. Bikes handy on larger Bute although buses will take you to Kilchattan for the best section of the West Island Way.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-8251684125413796912018-01-09T12:04:52.144+00:002018-01-09T12:04:52.144+00:00Thank You Lux G.Thank You Lux G.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-73632892103250108022018-01-08T13:07:07.923+00:002018-01-08T13:07:07.923+00:00Some of those zoom photos make Arran and the South...Some of those zoom photos make Arran and the Southern Highlands look alpine. I'd agree they be a serious proposition in winter having walked some of the island in warmer conditions. I've heard that Great Cumbrae is well worth a visit especially on a bike Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-20222396837698091442018-01-06T16:28:36.544+00:002018-01-06T16:28:36.544+00:00I'll probably be on one of the hired pedal bik...I'll probably be on one of the hired pedal bikes. Only a couple of seconds earlier with the button press and I would have got them both close up and clear. Way back can be different path over fields beside town reservoirs then round the back half of island. (Maps with walking paths marked on them scattered around the island- one near slipway car park on GC.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-18942929958575358452018-01-04T20:34:42.319+00:002018-01-04T20:34:42.319+00:00Looks like you had a really good day Bob - super l...Looks like you had a really good day Bob - super long range image of the Cobbler & Beinn Ime - the central peak visible from even that distance.

You're spot-on with the Redshank; one way I was taught to identify that species even in poor light (and apart from their distinctive alarm call) is that when they land Redshanks always raise their wings vertically over the back for a second before folding themIan Johnstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14130778756061507141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-11868742136989768962018-01-04T19:55:29.583+00:002018-01-04T19:55:29.583+00:00Don't think I've been over the middle road...Don't think I've been over the middle road over the summit of the island - must go back sometime. Good quiet walk from slipway on minor roads up to highest point on island then down into Millport... or get the bus(free over 60s) into Millport- plenty of short walks there as well and the Cathedral of the Isles. Even in winter its great walking and sightseeing and still less than £5 quid return. Free parking along seafront in Largs past the Gogo water.blueskyscotlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373718369702364265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6429013260986201371.post-7929869458886260182018-01-04T00:15:04.935+00:002018-01-04T00:15:04.935+00:00Hi Rosemary,
