In A Kingdom Near The Sea...

                                                  ALL PHOTOS CLICK FULL SCREEN

One morning early...

on a quest for perfection...

I took the long road up...

to visit 'the village with a god'...

where in this fabled land...

a knight might find salvation...

other heavy hearts might find redemption...

or even un-looked for love...

during the long years of Covid...

and the loss of bright ships that once graced the skies above, within living memory....can fade away.

In this far village...

'the village with a god'...

rumours of beauty did abound...

The mundane became magical again...

mystery revealed that...

Anything was possible...

in this kingdom near the sea...

where the last grass paths in Christendom...

are still to be found... miraculously un-trashed as yet, by mountain bike or heavy boot...

in an age of easy access...

in a busy world of constant demand... trained up to meet constant supply...

Where peace might well be a brief illusion...

given the long history of human war...

a stranger walks apart...

in this fair land of gently rolling uplands...

there is, at last, a sense of home...

and an explanation... of sorts........

Then... just time for a swift pint and a pork pie in the Tethered Rat.......before heading back to my real abode.

Simply stunning. . .B.W.F.S. A multi-layered complexity.

Quarrier’s Village?

Yes, but I thought I wouldn't mention it as I'm pissed off with crowds everywhere I go this year, struggle to find a free parking place in areas that used to be fairly quiet, and would like to keep the few grass paths left in Scotland, mountain bike free. Also just heard on the news that Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, Arran, Little Cumbrae and the West Coast Islands now have designated car routes on them similar to the North Coast 500 so I expect once quiet roads and peaceful cycling to be a thing of the past in these areas.

Beautiful church - a very unusual tower.

Covid might well go on for years! :-(

Just reading your comment in answer to Annabel - horrific! Couldn't agree more with your feelings as the Lakes have been truly horrific. They were slightly better today as the weather was fairly 'orrid and some of the kids are back at school but it's been the first fairly normal day since the start of June! :-(

Yeah Carol, It's weird. It's as if there's suddenly been a three fold increase in people that like the outdoors that didn't before. Even the less trendy areas I go to these days have increased in numbers visiting. Probably due to children and adults being off school/work, far fewer holidays abroad, and being cooped up indoors for the previous months...( I liked that bit) to the extent that I often can't be bothered going out myself as I personally prefer it much quieter.... but I've had my days in the sun already so I'm just a moaning old git looking forward to the coffin. Peace at last then I hope :O)

Some beautiful buildings in there. I'm hoping that once the outdoor novelty has worn off and we have some sort of normality back (whenever that is) all those idiots spreading litter and debris everywhere will return to the Wetherspoons from whence they came. I'm lucky that apart from one or two spots, South Wales mountains are still not on anyone's radar

It's wonderful to see a locals natural photos of such a glorious country. Litter! It's everywhere, so sad. Not quite what I'd like to say about the litterbugs!

Hi Rose,
Funnily enough, although the UK in general is a very litter prone country with some people dropping rubbish everywhere daily rather than use bins or take it home, this area at least is comparatively free of it.
