Grateful thanks are due to ex Islay resident Edi for giving the Blue Sky boys a free return car ticket for the ferry.Thank you..! Assembly point was at Gavin`s house at 8am for the journey round to Kennacraig which we duly reached with time to spare. Not enough time unfortunately to allow a quick bagging of the vitrified hill fort and trig on nearby Dun Skeig alas.
The forecast had predicted a great dullness and this indeed proved to be the case but we weren`t too fussed as sunny weather was due later on in the afternoon.Quite a calm crossing unlike our trip to Eigg the other month :)
This superyacht, the Lady B, passed us by on the way up the Sound of Islay.....
....all £10,000,000 pounds worth of her according to the Shetland times.By the manufacturers spec I reckon it would cost £25,000 to fill her up with diesel. That`s probably enough to power the whole of Islay for quite a while although I think if I had that kind of money to burn I`d find some sort of humanitarian outlet for the cash. Are you out there owner ? It is a lovely looking yacht I must admit :)

Next up,and more in keeping with our price league, was the bothy at An Cladach ...
Shortly after we berthed at Port Askaig and were soon off down to the Rhinns.
Bowmore over Loch Indaal...
A quick look around Portnahaven, which must be a lovely place when the sun is shining, and then back up the road to Port Charlotte to pitch the tents. The rain had returned by then so after a quick bite to eat we headed down to the local pub for an hour where I tried to convince the rest of the team of the attractions of trig bagging and Marilyn bagging.
Millie the dog expressed an interest which is more than I can say for Bob and Gavin.First of all I had to bribe her by playing with her ball though.
To be continued....
Hi Alex. Thanks for the information re the eagle. There's an eyrie not far away from where you saw the bird (indeed I've done the walk from the lighthouse into the site to check it in previous years! ). I wonder , with the high winds etc, whether the young bird had ended up "grounded" before it was completely able to fly.Hope so, in anycase thank you for passing on the details.
