Fly Agaric. October 2022. I'll keep it simple this time and just let the photos tell the story. There is one. A Hallow's... een tale.
This is a gallery of autumnal colours. Some captured on walks alone and a few with Anne for company. More earthly leaves on our third rock from the sun than a universe of stars suspended above? Count them up and you decide.

Lovely autumn photos Bob - my impression is that children do not play conkers anymore - they are far too busy on social media using their iPhones. I travelled on a bus recently for 30mins and during the entire journey a mother and her small son sitting on the bus fiddled with their phones and never spoke to one another.
Cheers Rosemary,
I've had city to city trips a few years ago where the entire bus looked down at smart phones for the duration, instead of out the windows, even on very scenic journeys and when I looked to see what they were reading it was just continuous finger swipes, no particular subject grabbing their interest for longer than a few minutes. While social media may have it's benefits, especially in hard line repressive countries, in the USA and The West it seems to be rapidly eroding faith in the establishment and the way society has always operated in the past. Mind you politicians worldwide seem to have lost the plot as well in the last decade.
Lovely autumnal collection!
Hi Anabel.
I was quite pleased with them. After two decades of going out to capture autumnal colours every year I still enjoy the hunt and it gives any walks undertaken an extra focus and interest.
It rains every day here! And it's always too dull to get autumn colours - not that they stay on the trees long. Love that second leaf photo - some very strange colours there though - grey?
Our Cumbrian kids still play conkers but I haven't seen anyone stringing the to wear them - just to fight with!
oh - and I can never understand why people sit on buses and trains and don't look out of the windows!
Hi Carol,
It's been very wet for weeks here as well. Some of the best autumn colours are found in urban parks and golf courses as they usually have a good assortment of exotic trees deliberately planted for seasonal variety. The grey leaf colour is the underside. They look like some kind of fancy maple as they appear similar to Japanese red maples in shape which are very vivid and instantly noticeable except these are different shades of green and yellow.
