Camelot in Glasgow. An Autumn Gallery.

This world I exist in is full of bright colour.

And after years of trial and error I now know the best places to find it.

Therefore, each October I seek out my autumnal grail on earth...

A knight riding out from far Camelot perhaps... in search of treasure...

Any weariness soon fades as I approach the city of towers...

maybe in one of them I shall find a companion...

to aid me in my quest and make the long miles flow easier...

through this fabled realm.

A bright day to ride forth is always a blessing...

for who can resist the lord's ' shining path.'..

no sweeter wine was ever tasted...

than the company of true friends... and a token on my sleeve

"Are you coming out to play?" I asked...

"We certainly are." they replied.

Our numbers grew to three.

" Where will we find what we are looking for?" They inquired.

"Why not look inside yourself- it's a good place to begin."

So we did.

and, after a while, our 'seventh sense'  gave us the path to travel...

so we followed it to a magic door...

where Guinevere, the Queen of the fairies lived.

but sadly she was out shopping...

so we settled for Jocasta instead......

A classic from the 1970s and an amazing range of visual characters portrayed on stage from a true pioneer in music. It was a very different band after he left. Worth watching. Multiple personalities in action. Half lead singer, half leading actor.

You mean Titania Queen of the Fairies! Guinevere was a mere mortal (albeit supposedly a good-looking one!)

It's alright getting autumnal colours but I generally find we never get the weather (and so the light) to do them justice around here so I rarely get any decent autumn photos :-( Having said that, we haven't got much colour either this year - only the odd tree...

Nope, I meant Guinevere, as in Camelot, 12th century Arthurian legend, and the classic Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song (slightly different spelling) which was the tune going through my head when writing this post. I just don't throw them together you know- I really think hard about it...Titania is a terrible name for a diminutive fey. Not right at all in my opinion. Don't like it... never use it.

You have no artistic eyes Carol, Autumn colour this year has been outstanding... everywhere. Cornucopic splendour in fact, bursting from the ground!

YOUR autumn colours may have been outstanding - there's very little here. Strangely, when I went on the train to my home county of Yorkshire to see my parents yesterday, there was quite a bit of good colour over there - just not here in the west for some reason. Our weather's been pretty atrocious too...

As you know, I'm always knocked out by the range of autumn colours in the Lakes Carol but they do seem to be a few weeks later down there. Unless you've picked the only part of the Lakes where autumn doesn't happen. Check out the attached Gen Video link. I was not a fan of that band so never realized until I watched this how bonkers P.G was on stage at that time.

We're in Patterdale soon - they sometimes have great colours. I think it's normally South Lakes which has the best Autumn colours though - Ambleside et al... We're pretty near the coast here so maybe that's why there's nothing much.

Watched/Listened to the video - exactly like Fish-era Marillion - although I suppose these guys came first!

Heard of Marillion but know nothing of their music apart from one single. Off to have a listen to see if I like them. Only got into PG later when I bought his solo albums.

I see what you mean about similar face paint in certain videos. Did not like Marillion's music though. Not my taste at all. Just looked it up and Fish was inspired by PG, Genesis and Bowie, among others, in the 1970s so that's probably why. Having said that Arthur Brown (The Crazy World of Arthur Brown) did it first in the 1960s, along with a flaming crown :o) Footnote:- These days pouring petrol on your head is considered unsafe.

There is always colour, even in the city

Cheers Andy,
After decades exploring city, town, mountain, and rural landscapes I would say the urban areas definitely have the best range of vivid autumn colours as most of the parks have trees gathered from all over the would, picked and planted like an art display as many of them started out as grand private estates. Any really colourful displays in the countryside of mixed hues have usually been placed there in the same way- for effect. As I'll prove with future posts of dazzling splendour :)
